Love and Marriage
Marriages Fail Because We Can’t Predict the Future
Dating is not marriage training
Traditions. Ugh. Older generations always want us to be married and have babies, but honestly, marriage can suck. Gender, age, culture — whatever situation you’re in, marriage can just plain suck. For that matter, relationships can plain suck.
While I am personally struggling with a few things in my life and needed to share some things with you, I swear I’m not bitter or jaded or miserable. Not all the time, anyway. Some days are harder than others.
I don’t envy people having to learn to date in today’s world, as complicated and unstable as the world is. But dating is essentially the same as it always was, except for technological advancements and a global pandemic and…wait — maybe dating isn’t the same as it used to be at all. Still, we spend our young years looking for love. Some of us find it. Some of us find it then lose it, then spend our older years looking for love.
Some of us find it a whole bunch of times, and lose it a whole bunch more. Love and loss, up and down and all around, over and over again. Pain and joy, pleasure and agony, top of the mountain to the depths of despair.
