In the Medium Writers Slack channel, I've seen nos 1, 2, and 6 on your list discussed just in the last two weeks. They are working hard at making the publications and editors essentially the first line of curation.

Just last week we suggested some kind of editorial dashboard for editors to work with the writers, because we all know the interface now is woefully inept.

The boost program is a testing ground for ideas like yours, and Medium is listening.

They know a ship this big doesn't turn on a dime, and there are many factors and variables going into making changes, but they are really working hard at making this a better platform for readers and writers by going with a story-first model.
