Did you just give me the Cat's in the Cradle treatment? You've made lots of assumptions based one one line in a piece I wrote just because I was feeling something.

The truth is that you don't know anything about me or my life other than what you've seen here. You don't know how much time I spend with my kids or what I do with them. You don't know what books I read to them when I tuck them into bed at night. You don't know what I do for work, if I work at all, or if I only do it so I can afford to do things with my family. You also don't know what other battles I may be fighting, like health issues or marital problems or depression or alcoholism.

That being said, you're right. It is all about time. I read those pieces all the time and they fascinate me. I do want to spend as much time with my loved ones as much as I can because time is fleeting. I'm in the present with them as much as possible.

Of course I want better for my kids. I don't want them to have the regrets I have. I totally get the "Cat's in the Cradle" message here, and I do appreciate it. If nothing else, you really have made me stop and think.

All we can do is our best. I give my kids all I have, making the best decisions with that I have in front of me. And that's what I try and do every single day.
